so I still don't know why would people use rend-single-onion other than "it's an onion!". it saves some exit node bandwidth, but that's almost negligible except for facebook/cloudflare. running an exit node along with a clearnet site would contribute more capacity to the network, compared to the fancy single onion that saves a few bytes.
